E-Rate

The Telecommunications Act of 1996 established the E-Rate program to provide eligible schools and libraries with discounts on telecommunication and Internet access equipment. New York State鈥檚 2018 funding allocation is over $71 million. The E-Rate program is administered by the听School & Library Division of the听.听

To听provide technical assistance and facilitate the听E-Rate application process, The 91社区 (91社区)听partners with听,听an organization with extensive experience with the E-Rate program.听As of 2016, adult education facilities providing secondary education are also eligible for E-Rate discounts.听91社区听strongly urges all schools and libraries to take full advantage of all the E-Rate discounts on听telecommunication and Internet access equipment.听

Some of the services provided to New York schools and libraries by E-Rate Central are:听

  • Weekly听Email听Newsletter听for E-Rate coordinators听with current news and information. Sign-up听at听the听听Web site.听
  • 贰-搁补迟别听听for听specific E-rate questions.听
  • E-Rate Central offers half-dayE-Rate workshops听throughout the State. Workshops will be announced on the听听Web site.听
  • 听is a Web-based tool that helps schools and libraries organize and analyze their specific E-rate information听free of charge, 24 hours a day. 听

The process that 91社区 will use to validate the eligibility of entities to receive E-Rate funding is outlined in the E-Rate Validation of Schools memo.
