DESCRIPTION:
The purpose of STEP is to increase the number of historically underrepresented and economically disadvantaged students prepared to enter higher education, and improve their participation rate in careers in mathematics, science, technology, health-related fields and the licensed professions.听 Competitive grants are available to postsecondary institutions.听 STEP programs provide students with summer, after-school, Saturday enrichment activities in Regents examination, standardized test preparation, academic enrichment classes, research and internship opportunities, college/career counseling, tutoring, and mentoring.
